FAQ

Children Details

We are very excited to now be involving our newest generation (known as Gen3 – children born to our Gen2 participants) in the Raine Study. So far our Gen2s who have become parents have been voluntarily contacting us and updating their information with us about their children. We hope to keep expanding and updating this information so that we have a record of our Gen3 children to more effectively communicate with them and their parents about future follow-ups aimed at the Gen3s.

In 2017 we conducted our first Gen3 follow-up (make a hyperlink) for children aged between 2 and 10 years, and in the near future we will provide a Pregnancy and Birth Questionnaire to Gen2s who are parents, in order to collect information about the children born into the Raine Study family.

As well as your child(ren)’s details, we would like to collect some basic information about the other biological parent(s) of your child(ren) in order to potentially involve them in future Gen3 follow-ups and research. Your child’s biological parent may also be your partner/spouse, however, that is not an essential criteria for them to be involved in the Raine Study. The fact that they are a biological parent to your child makes them important.

If you fill out the Other Biological Parent section below on their behalf , then please let them know about the Raine Study and that you have provided us with their details and why. Alternatively, you can direct them to this page so they can update their own details and/or express their interest in being involved.

Grandparents Details

We would like to keep up to date with basic information of the grandparents (known as Gen0) of Gen2 participants for a couple of reasons.

First, we are now starting to actively involve them in follow-ups. Some of the Grandmothers and even some of the Great-Grandmothers of our Gen2 participants took part in the 2018 Breast Density study.

Secondly, having information on four generations of a family will be an extremely important resource for health and wellbeing researchers. It will help us to examine the role that lifestyle and genetics play in health, and how this is passed on through the generations.

You can fill in the Gen0 fields below on behalf of a grandparent, or if you prefer you can direct them to this page so they can update their own details and/or express their interest in being involved in future follow-ups. If you update the Gen0 fields on behalf of a grandparent then please let them know about the Raine Study and that you have provided us with their details and why.
