Raine Study 21 year Celebration

The Raine Study has become one of the most successful scientific studies of pregnancy, childhood and adolescence in the world. The Raine Study cohort consists of over 2000 young adults who are currently aged between 19 and 22 years of age.

Over the years this group, along with their parents have participated in the Raine Study by attending over ten separate assessments, where they have been measured and tested and completed questionnaires and provided information.  This has resulted in a unique and enormously valuable collection of information on pregnancy, childhood, teenage and young adult information.

Over 150 researchers are involved in using this information to examine the development and outcomes of health and diseases in all areas.

We hosted a party to to celebrate and thank the Raine Study participants and to showcase the Research that they have made possible over the past 21 years. This was held on  6 November 2011, in the Government House Gardens, and His Excellency Mr Malcolm McCusker AO QC, Governor of Western Australia, officially opened the Celebration. Professor John Newnham and Professor Fiona Stanley both made speeches and presentations. Professor Fiona Stanley cut the official 21 year Cake!

The Raine Study Research groups displayed their research and the results and findings from the information provided by the Raine Study participants over the past 20 years. There were various forms of entertainment and food and refreshments were available.
